Sensex Ends Flat, Nifty Manages To Stay Above 8100

Indian market ended the choppy session on a flat note on Thursday. At the close, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex ended flat with a decline of 23.78 points or 0.09% at 26,813.42, while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a decline of 4.45 points or 0.05%, at 8,130.65.

Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries  (1.85%), Wipro (1.75%), Housing Development Finance Corporation  (1.18%), H D F C Bank (1.05%), Axis Bank  (0.98%),  and Bharat Heavy Electricals  (0.91%).

On the other hand, Tata Steel  (2.58%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (2.16%), Vedanta  (1.89%), I C I C I Bank  (1.74%), Bajaj Auto  (1.37%),  and Bharti Airtel  (1.25%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

The Realty index was at 1,430.88, up by 11.64 points or by 0.82%. The Capital Goods index was at 16,676.38, up by 97.59 points or by 0.59%. The Oil & Gas index was at 9,466.72, up by 49.58 points or by 0.53%. On the other hand, the Metal index was at 9,293.52, down by 104.43 points or by 1.11%.

Market breadth was negative with 1,220 advances against 1,310 declines.
