Sensex Dips, Realty & Power Worst Hit This Week

During the week ended Friday, March 20, 2015, the 30-share benchmark index dropped 242.22 points or 0.85 percent.

As compared to last week’s closing at 28503.30, the Sensex on Friday closed at 28261.08 points.The start of the week saw the index opening at 28546.31, made week’s high at 28978.74 on Thursday and touched week’s lowest level of 28209.66 on Friday.

BSE Midcap and BSE Smallcap during the week shed 1.57 and 3.12 percent respectively.

Health Care and Consumer Durables were the only sectoral indices that managed to end up in green zone gaining 1.23 and 0.45 percent respectively. Realty, Power and FMCG were among the top losers of the week, shedding 3.53, 3.50 and 2.78 percent respectively.

Wipro, Infosys, Dr Reddy, Sun Pharma and HDFC Bank were the top gainers in the Sensex adding 2.20, 1.88, 1.61, 1.46 and 1.20 percent respectively to their weight. Whereas NTPC, Bharti Airtel, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hindustan Unilever and Sesa Sterlite losing 9.66, 5.26, 5.06, 4.97 and 3.88 respectively remained the top losers.

The week witnessed FIIs buying for Rs.27197.23 crore and selling for Rs.26368.38 while it saw DIIs buying for Rs.7579.82 crore and selling for Rs.8713.59 crore shopping. During the week of the foreign institutional investors pumped in net Rs 828.85 crore while domestic institutional investors took out Rs.1133.77 crore in net.

During the week, turnover in the derivatives segment was Rs.1,13,161.66 crore as compared to Rs.1,16,400.26 crore in the last week.
